Our Methodical Approach

Professional Painting Preparation

We follow a proven, methodical seven-step painting process to achieve a beautifully painted interior or exterior project.

The 7 Step Process

Step 2: Schedule Service

Typically, we can begin work within 2-3 weeks after the estimate takes place. We will confirm all project specifications, including colour, coverage areas, pricing, etc. We will also contact you to confirm our arrival time. When we give you a start time, you can be sure that we will be there on time and ready to begin for the entirety of the project, until it is finished.

Step 3: Paint Preparation Equals Long Term Results

Our prep work begins with thorough power washing of your exterior walls (or scrubbing/sanding of your interior walls). Power washing is essential for several reasons. Chemicals from landscape/garden maintenance can cause paint to peel, discolour, or fail prematurely.
Additionally, it’s normal for paint to oxidize in the sun, and turn chalky to the touch. Neglecting to remove dirt and chalk will prevent paint from sticking to it. It will stick to the dirt instead, which will eventually be brushed or blown off the house.
Our extensive prep work process is what sets us apart from other painting businesses who sometimes hire inexperienced paint teams with a high volume, low-quality business model. Unlike those paint teams, our painting services give you long-lasting results.
Here’s our approach to professional painting preparation:
You’ll often hear painters say, “Prep is 75% of the job.” It’s true, and we put a substantial amount of effort into scraping, sanding edges of window-sills, and hand or power washing.
We take the time to protect your home and ensure we’re not causing disruption to your daily life.
As needed, we can perform minor repairs. See other home services we can offer.

Step 4: Now it’s Time to Paint!

Here’s when the real magic happens. For both interior and exterior projects, we will paint all non-covered areas (bare wood) with a suitable primer followed by an undercoat finishing with your selected colour choices. Before we start painting exterior surfaces, we’ll discuss whether or not your project will require a second coat. Need help selecting an exterior paint colour? Read our recommendations in the trends and tips section of our website.

Step 5: Clean Up

Every day of painting is followed diligently by a thorough cleanup of our work area. We make sure that your home stays as neat and safe for your family as possible while we work.

Step 6: Inspecting Our Work for Total Satisfaction “Snagging”

After our work is finished, we do a final walk-through to inspect every area of our interior and exterior work. We apply touch-ups to any areas that need adjustment or perfecting. Afterwards, we walk through the project again with you to ensure your satisfaction.
